The 25th Anniversary Edition:

VW launched this model in 2002 to celebrate the 25th Birthday of the VW Golf. The car is based on the mk4 GTI with the option of the 1.8T turbo engine (180BHP) or the 1.9 TDI engine delivering 150BHP. The only visual difference between the two models is the rear valance on the petrol model, which has a cut out for the 90mm stainless tailpipe. The diesel follows the VW norm of hiding its twin downswept tailpipes behind the valance.

The anniversary edition golf also came with a new interior consisting of aluminium radio surround, GTI embroidered sport seats and a golf ball geear knob. On the outside, the anniversary came with 18" BBS alloy wheels, and was slightly lower than the normal GTI. It also came with Anniversary styled GTI badges both front and rear.

Only 1800 Anniversary models were built; 900 petrol models and 900 diesel models. It was available in 3 colours; Black, Red and Silver. All of the Anniversary Golfs were given a unique ID with their number on. A plaque with this number on and was placed on the fuse box cover. If you never had one of these, you should be able to get one from a VW dealer.

The Edition 30:

The 30th Anniversary edition of the Golf GTI was launched in 2007 to celebrate the 30th birthday of the Golf. The car is only available with a petrol engine, which kicks out 230bhp. This anniversary Golf looks fairly similar to its slightly less powerful GTI brother. However, it also comes with body colour valances both front and rear, BBS wheels, the normal golf ball style gear knob and Edition 30 markings on the back.

The engine in the Edition 30 is a 2.0l Turbocharged engine. It's power stands at 226bhp at 5200rpm, and it has a 221 lb/ft of torque at 2200rpm which will pull the car to 152mph, and from 0 - 60 in 6.8 seconds. The Edition 30 did not come with numbers to begin with, but VW will now be sending them out to owners to make them more unique.
